National Biotechnology Network of Expertise- Egypt

National Specialized Scientific Networks Program is one of the initiatives of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, Egypt which aims to gather the Egyptian scientists specialized in the field of biotechnology in universities, institutes and research centers that operate on isolated parallel islands, which leads to duplicating efforts instead of integrating them, fragmenting funding and wasting resources. Moreover, it aims to build an integrated, audited database of scientists and experts in various scientific fields, especially in the interdisciplinary and advanced sciences. It also aims to conduct joint research and studies in line with the plans and priorities of Egypt. Furthermore, it aims, in the long run, to be a part of the international research and projects related to the field of Biotechnology. The program is one of the executive mechanisms of Egypt’s Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation 2030: one of its most important goals is to create an enabling environment for scientific research and build national capacities.
National Biotechnology Network of Expertise also aims to facilitate the use of scientific devices and research capabilities available in the network’s member agencies in accordance with a set of controls approved by the Academy in cooperation with the network’s participating entities, which ensures good utilization of the available wealth of devices and equipment that are not effectively used, which saves money that is used to buy new devices even though they are already available in different directions. Among the goals of the networks is also the continuous assessment of national needs in the field of training in the field of biotechnology, with the identification of research priorities in full coordination with the specific council of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology.
